Purchased leads almost always lead to problems, so I would recommend not buying leads at all.

Email addresses that you contact without having them request information from you specifically can report you as a spammer. Legal troubles aside, you can quickly develop a bad reputation with ISPs like Gmail, Yahoo, or any local email providers, which can lead to your messages being blocked.

On the other side of the issue, consider the people that you would be sending to. Most people do not open email from people they don’t know, as they simply consider it spam. Even if you have something to offer that they might be interested in, how would they tell your email apart from the Nigerian prince offering them millions of dollars, or the messages offering cheap pharmaceutical drugs?

Focus on building lists of subscribers who have shown interest in your company by placing a sign up form on your web site, or collecting names at a live event. Making sure you’re only sending to people who want to hear from you will make your email marketing campaign a lot more successful.
