Lightsabers – Every Kids Dream

Ok. Hands up who remembers wanting to be a Jedi when he was a kid (or when she was a kid for that matter – not every girl wanted to be Princess Leia)? How many hours did you spend dreaming about having your own real lightsaber and fighting the forces of Sith darkness in epic battles of life and death? Or how many hours did you spend battering plastic “lightswords” against each other? Yes I was that kid too and every day from the first day that I saw Obi Wan turn on that lightsaber I’ve wanted to own a realistic lightsaber. There were many nights spent laying awake in bed trying to figure out how to build a lightsaber.

Then I started to grow up and I slowly forgot about that small dream of having a real lightsaber of my very own. Then one night a few years back I was online browsing – I reckon it might have been a Star Wars forum and found a link to what somebody said was an incredibly realistic lightsaber. All it took was a 30 second video and I was hooked. Somebody had finally taken the time to go out and build a lightsaber that looked, felt and sounded just like the real thing – the name of this wonderful gadget – the Force FX lightsaber.

At long last there was a “toy” that made my dreams of owning a real lightsaber a reality. Ok I’m much older now (in my 30s to be exact) but the thrill of picking up that replica lightsaber for the first time is something that you can’t clarify in words – you have to experience it for yourself. These are more than just lightsaber replicas they help make you part of the Star Wars Universe in a way that only a right fan can know.
